The Final Fall

The rumors dis-nerds have been dreading for months have been confirmed. The beloved Tower of Terror is going to be redone as a Guardians of the Galaxy themed ride. There have been many rumors floating around about this change for months now. And it looks as if they finally came true. The Tower of Terror in Disney's California Adventure, will be redesighned and remodeled as a MARVEL themed ride, called, "Guardians of the Galaxy, Mission: Breakout!". Its truely a shame to see such a beloved ride go to waste, to make room for a not very loved movie themed ride. The Tower in Florida will be staying as is, so the legacy of the Tower in DCA will live on in that ride. But its a loss to be mourned for sure.

This change has been argued for a while. Why will it happen? Why does it need to? Should it? Etc. The time has come to stop asking questions and look at the hard facts. Mybe this will end this blood fued with the dis-nerds and the Disney corp. 1. The TOT isn't a dying attraction, it continues to have lines exceeding 45 mins. 2. Its themeing is the best done in the park, the segway from Buena Vista to Hollywood, then to an abandoned 1940's hotel is beautifully done. 3. Nothing has happed in the tower's history or currently to cause such a drastic change. Hmmm. So, what the facts are is that the TOT is a well done, crowd attractter with no really bad history. Seems like a perfect ride. 10 out of 10. Five stars. And yet, Disney has decided to replace the famed tower with a not very well loved movie. That makes sence to me! Not really, and if you ask me its a huge mistake on Disney's part. But there is another side to this arguement. Lets take a look shall we?

The little land called Hollywood land in Disney's California Adventure has two rides and a couple attractions in it. The only ride anyone actually really likes or knows about is the Tower of Terror. The land is a conflict between movies, shows, and the Tower itself. Its really the only non movie attraction in the land (per say), or even the land next to it, Bugs Land. It stands out a lot, and is one of those attractions that can be seen from outside the park, so its an icon. The recent purchase of MARVEL is one for the gain of new attractions and more poeple rideing those attractions, thus creating bigger income. Some say that the contract ran out with the Twighlight Zone. But then, why would the Florida version stay?

The facts aren't adding up. The ride has no real need to be replaced, except to be a new ride to draw crowds in and finalze what kind of people visit DCA. But the fact still remains, what is the real reason? Why take such a classic and loved attraction? We dont know for sure, but we can only hope to find out.

No matter what, this is a blow to the park. Losing such an icon is a tragity to be sure. Anyone who has gone to the park has memories of this ride. As I said before, the themeing on this ride is one of, if not the, best done in the park. The idea of the ride is very intresting, and the way the mysterious Twilight Zone was put together with an attraction with Disney magic was done perfectly. It was and will always be one of the icons of Disneyland, no matter if its there or not. Older generations will say, "I remember when there used to be this tower of terror ride here." But alas, all good things come to an end, whitch is what has happened here. The beloved tower is leaving us very soon, and will not be returning. We will miss your stunning sihouette sunsets, your taunting screams, your classy music, your theming, your thrills, and of course your presence.

The tower shall see its final drop in summer, 2017. Until then, ride it while you can.
