Space Mountain is one of the most iconic Disney Parks rides. Its distinct shape and desighn are pretty much the same in every park. It is the second Space Mountain that was built by the Walt Disney Company. The Mountain itself has a small but interesting.

The idea of an indoor, dark rollercoster was first coceicved at Disney World, where it was a huge sucess. Due to a space problem, the Disneyland version of the popular rollercoaster had to be a bit smaller. It was built in 1977 and was a releif to the 10 year old Tomorrowland. It was Disneyland's second rollercoaster. The $20 Million dollar complex was made up of Space Mountain, A large stage that could seat 1,100 people and a restuarant that could seat 670 people.

During its history is has even changed colors. From an 80's bronze, to the iconic and well kown white. There were many sponcers in the earlyer years, FedEx and Goodyear both had small parts of the ride to represnt their companies. The Mountian used to have the iconic "Peoplemover" go through it, with glass looking into the ride itself. The mountain has a Halloween side as well. it changes to a scaryer version which features a ghost chase... The mountain had its own Rock n' Roll phase during which the clamer music would play during the day, but the music would change to a Rock n' Roll theme during the nightime.

Today, the stage is gone, replaced with a smaller theater. The lage restauant is now a small but iconic "Pizza Port" form the movie "Toy Story" The Mountain itself however, continues to be an iconic and classic ride, sought out by guests of all ages. It is a must ride and is a great experience. It is the thrilling rocket to outer space and back.
